On 15 December 2016, HKIAC and the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprise Association (HKCEA) signed a cooperation agreement to facilitate collaboration and to explore ways to establish a med-arb mechanism to resolve disputes involving Chinese enterprises. The agreement was signed by Teresa Cheng SC (chair of HKIAC) and Du Chun (chair of HKCEA's Commercial Mediation Committee), and was witnessed by senior representatives of HKIAC and HKCEA.
After the signing, Teresa Cheng SC gave a presentation about arbitral procedures in Hong Kong, followed by a panel discussion among Cao Lijin (partner of Zhong Lun Law Firm), Catherine Mun (partner of Li & Partners), Bai Tao (secretary-general of HKCEA) and Joe Liu (managing counsel of HKIAC).
The event was kindly sponsored by Zhong Lun Law Firm and was attended by over 80 arbitrators, mediators and in-house counsel from major Chinese companies.
