On 1 March, HKIAC, in conjunction with the Beijing International Arbitration Forum (BIAF) hosted a Symposium on Updates on Hong Kong and Mainland China Arbitration. The event was held at Poly Plaza Conference Centre in Beijing and was attended by over 70 attendees.
In the first session, Matthew Gearing QC spoke on recent developments in Hong Kong arbitration, proposed amendments to HKIAC Rules and offered practical tips for effective advocacy.
In the second session, a panel of experts including David Fu (Institute of International Law/CASS), Lu Song (Independent Arbitrator), Jerry Zhang (Linli Law), Libin Zhang (Broad & Bright), Fang Zhao (Huizhong Law Firm) and Mariana Zhong (Dechert) discussed several important Chinese court decisions made in 2017 in respect of international and domestic arbitrations.
After an interactive question and answer session, Lu Song delivered the closing remarks.
