  • HKIAC Tops Prestigious Global Arbitration Survey

    20151007_hkiac_tops_prestigious_global_arbitration_survey Queen Mary University of London has released details of its sixth International Arbitration Survey, which showcases the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) as being the most preferred arbitral institution outside of Europe and ranks it the third best arbitral institution worldwide.

    The survey, which was released at the annual conference of the International Bar Association in Vienna yesterday (6 October 2015), also found HKIAC to be the world's most improved institution over the past five years. Participants said their choice of institution was based on an assessment of the quality of its administration, neutrality and level of “internationalism”.


  • HKIAC Appoints New Managing Counsel

    Maria The Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) has appointed Maria-Krystyna Duval to the position of Managing Counsel. She commenced the role in August 2015.

    Ms Duval joins HKIAC with substantial experience in the field of international arbitration, having worked with several major international law firms in Paris and London as well as a number of international organisations. She has experience advising on a wide range of proceedings including international commercial and investment arbitrations conducted under the ICC, LCIA, SCC, UNCITRAL and ICSID Rules as well as associated court proceedings. She also has considerable experience advising on fraud, corruption and bribery issues as well as international human rights.


  • HKIAC Appoints New Deputy Counsel to Lead Korea Office

    Nicole_Lee The Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) is pleased to appoint Nicole (Heeseung) Lee, a former legal counsel at Samsung Electronics,as HKIAC’s Deputy Counsel. Ms Lee began work at HKIAC on 24 August 2015.

    A Korean national who is qualified in New York, Ms Lee practised for two years at a Korean firm, Kim & Lee, before joining Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd in Seoul, where she spent nearly six years working as Legal Counsel. In her previous role at Samsung, Ms Lee gained significant experience in negotiating arbitration agreements to be included in a wide range of transactions. Her in-house experience also included drafting and reviewing software license agreements, product development agreements, consulting agreements and various other transaction documents for Samsung.
